Naturopathic Medicine
What is naturopathic medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a regulated health profession in Ontario that focuses on understanding the root causes of illness — not just managing symptoms. As a Naturopathic Doctor (ND), I use a combination of evidence-informed therapies to support your body's ability to heal and maintain balance.
Every person who walks through the door has a unique history, biology, and set of goals. That's why appointments are longer than a typical doctor's visit — your first visit is 90 minutes — and why your care plan is built around you, not a diagnosis.
What does an ND do?
I work with patients on a wide range of health concerns, including digestive health, hormonal balance, sleep, energy, stress, and chronic conditions. Depending on what's most appropriate for you, I may use:
Clinical nutrition and therapeutic diet
Botanical medicine
Nutritional supplementation
Lifestyle and behavioural counselling
Acupuncture
Lab testing and interpretation
I can also order standard laboratory testing in Ontario, and I work collaboratively with your family doctor, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
Is naturopathic medicine covered by OHIP?
Naturopathic medicine is not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health benefit plans include coverage for ND visits — check your plan for details.
I offer direct billing and/or provide receipts for all appointments that you can submit to your insurer.
Is an ND the same as a naturopath?
No. "Naturopathic Doctor" is a protected title in Ontario, regulated under the Regulated Health Professions Act. NDs complete a four-year, full-time accredited naturopathic medical program and pass rigorous licensing examinations before they can practise. I am registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO), registration #4464. You can verify my registration on the CONO public register.
Who is naturopathic medicine for?
Naturopathic care is a good fit if you're looking for a thorough, personalised approach to your health — whether you're managing a chronic condition, trying to prevent illness, or simply want to feel better and understand your body more deeply. It works well alongside conventional care, not instead of it.
Why patients choose naturopathic care
Time and attention
Your first appointment is 75 minutes. Follow-ups are 20–60 minutes. That's time to actually talk through your history, your goals, and what's not working — something most people haven't experienced in a healthcare setting.
A whole-person approach
Rather than focusing on a single symptom or system, naturopathic medicine looks at how your digestion, hormones, sleep, stress, and lifestyle all connect. Often, addressing one area has ripple effects across others.
Care that works with your life
Treatment plans are built around what's realistic for you — your schedule, your preferences, your capacity for change. The goal is progress that's sustainable, not a protocol you abandon after two weeks.
Partnership with your existing care team
Naturopathic care is designed to complement your relationship with your family doctor and any specialists you see. I communicate with other providers when it's helpful, and I'll always tell you when something is outside my scope.
Your questions get answered
A big part of what I do is helping you understand what's happening in your body and why. You'll leave each visit with a clear sense of what we're doing and the reasoning behind it
