Metabolic Health
Support for weight management, energy, blood sugar, cholesterol, cardiovascular risk, kidney disease, “fatty liver”, and nutrient deficiencies.
Who this is for
You may be managing these conditions with one or more pharmaceuticals, have a new diagnosis, and/or want to improve your metabolic health in a structured and sustainable way.
This area is a passion of mine and core to my practice.
How it tends to show up
Gradual weight gain (often around the midsection), inconsistent energy, afternoon crashes, sugar cravings, reduced exercise tolerance, or blood work showing rising insulin, HbA1c, cholesterol, triglycerides, or blood pressure. A family history of diabetes or cardiovascular disease is common.
What we might look at
We look at metabolic patterns rather than isolated numbers. This includes how blood sugar regulation, lipid balance, inflammation, body composition, sleep, stress, and daily routines interact. The goal is to understand why certain markers are trending the way they are and where the highest-yield opportunities for improvement exist.
What working together looks like
Care is practical, data-informed, and focused on clarity. We identify priorities, avoid unnecessary complexity, and build a plan you can actually follow. Progress is tracked, adjustments are made based on your response, and decisions are grounded in real feedback — not guesswork.
The aim is not short-term restriction, but improved metabolic flexibility, energy, and long-term confidence in your health.
Why this matters
These are conditions of modern living that are increasingly common, carry significant long-term health risks, and are largely preventable. Properly implemented naturopathic supports (diet, lifestyle, exercise) are the mainstay of treatment, can reduce and reverse disease progression, and delay or reduce the need for long-term medication.
30% of Canadians live with diabetes or prediabetes. It is associated with premature death, reduced lifespan of 5-15 years, contributes to 40% of heart attacks, 30% of strokes, 50% of kidney failure, leading cause of blindness, and is estimated to have 2x higher all-cause mortality compared to those without diabetes (Diabetes Canada).
26.1% of Canadian adults have metabolic syndrome (PMID: 41032639). Thats any 3 of: Large waist circumference, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and low HDL cholesterol.
35% of Canadians have Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD / “Fatty Liver”) (PMID: 40323353).
